Cruise Overview

Genoa/Italy In the Italian port city, eleven exciting days along the coasts of the western Mediterranean begin.

Monte Carlo/Monaco Today, the principality on the Côte d'Azur is your setting for first experiences ashore. The full beauty of the French Riviera* will unfold before your eyes during a trip along the coast. Blue bays and popular beaches, little old towns such as Eze that are nestled up against the mountains and scenic views of Cap Ferrat and Cap d'Antibes account for the reputation of this wonderful spot on our planet. On a helicopter flight* over city and coast, you will see this region from a particularly impressive perspective.

Barcelona/Spain It is a pleasure to discover the buoyant Catalan metropolis. Stroll across Las Ramblas, marvel at the lively hustle and bustle in the market hall or the mythical creatures looking down at you in the Gothic quarter -explore Barcelona's historic district on foot* without being rushed. On the trails of Gaudí*, you can soak up the creativity of the imaginative architect whose legacy includes works such as the fanciful Park Guell or the church Sagrada Familia, which is incomplete to this day and the crypt of which is Gaudí's final resting place.

Valencia/Spain The Spanish city on the Mediterranean coast was under Moorish rule for hundreds of years, and so many relics of Arabic architecture are still to be found in the historic centre*. The market hall of the Mercado Central dates back to the 20th century - a tile-adorned gem that is considered one of the most beautiful art nouveau market halls in all of Europe. The destination of your bicycle tour along the River Turia*, in contrast, is perceived as futuristic: the innovative City of Arts & Sciences, Valencia's new landmark.

Cartagena/Spain Carthaginians, Romans, Goths and Arabs - they all reigned over Cartagena* and left behind their interesting heritage such as the castle built in the 11th century. The most splendid example of architecture in the charming old part of Murcia* is its Cathedral, the tower of which is approx. 90 m high. Just outside of Murcia lies the sanctuary La Fuensanta, which accommodates the city's patron virgin.

Marbella/Spain The meeting place of the rich and beautiful on the Costa del Sol exudes an air of sophistication, and the yacht harbour* attracts an illustrious clientele that enjoys itself in cafes and glamourous boutiques against the elegant backdrop. However, the old part of the city of Marbella* also has a fascinating flair, especially at the enchanting Plaza de los Naranjos with its orange trees. Up in the mountains, you will be captivated by historic Ronda*: the white village is to be found on either side of a 160 m deep canyon. Stroll through its picturesque old district with its palaces formerly inhabited by the nobility, its churches and across the bridge Puente Nuevo dating back to the late 18th century.

Cadiz/Spain Legend has it that Hercules founded the city with the pretty historic district where today, you will visit the home of Flamenco and Don Juan: Seville - the capital of Andalusia*. Its impressive landmark, the bell tower Giralda, stands tall above the city, and the proud metropolis presents its attractions such as the royal palace Alcazar or the narrow alleys of the Barrio de Santa Cruz. In the Sierra de Cadiz, the charming white mountain village Arcos* and the Sherry-producing city Jerez de la Frontera* exude Andalusian joie de vivre.

Funchal/Madeira On the island of flowers in the Atlantic, you will be welcomed by venerable Funchal. In the olden days, nearby Monte*, which is located quite high above sea level and in the pilgrimage church of which Emperor Charles I is buried, was very popular among the aristocracy and wealthy citizens. During the excursion into the world of the Pico de Arieiro*, a mountain that enables its visitors to see as far as the neighbouring island Porto Santo when the weather is good, you will get an idea of why Madeira is an ideal destination for hikers. A lifestyle that has not changed much over the years will reveal itself to you in Camara de Lobos, a small, picturesque fishing townon the way to Cabo Girato*, a 580 m high rock cliff offering fabulous panoramic views. Inspired by these impressions, a stylish afternoon tea awaits you in the legendary Reid's Palace Hotel*.
